Unlike the wrecks of Bikini Atoll, the majority of the wrecks in Truk Lagoon are relatively shallow, and suitable for recreational and technical scuba divers alike. Whilst the wrecks themselves are encrusted with a variety of corals, you can still clearly see telegraphs, steering columns and mounted guns and many offer the opportunity to explore engine rooms and holds. Historical artefacts such as medicine bottles, gas masks and other personal effects can still be found at many of the sites along with machinery of war including engines, aircraft wings, tanks, guns and ammunition. Flights PACKAGE DESCRIPTION The Caribbean Explorer II provides a comfortable and convenient way to experience the best diving that Saba and St. Kitts have to offer—all in one seamless itinerary. This 115-foot (35-meter) liveaboard accommodates up to 18 guests in 9 air-conditioned cabins with private or shared bathrooms. Cabins are compact but comfortable, and the crew prides itself on warm hospitality and personal service. The Explorer II has 2 itineraries, depending on the week you choose to dive with us. We depart alternate weeks from St. Maarten and St. Kitts. If you choose a charter that begins in St. Maarten, the charter will end in St. Kitts and you will fly home from there. If you choose a charter that begins in St. Kitts, the charter will end in St. Maarten and that will be your return location. Days aboard the vessel generally involve breakfast from 7 to 8 am (cold breakfasts are available for late risers), followed by two-morning dives, lunch at 12:30 pm, two afternoon dives, dinner at 6:30 pm, and a night dive (we offer up to 27 dives per week including up to 5 night dives – weather permitting). Island tours will be arranged at each island visited for those interested; further island access is available daily upon request. A fixed fare taxi can be secured to take you to the Turks & Caicos Aggressor II® docked at the "Ocean World Marina" in Puerto Plata. • The Whale Sanctuary and Port Access Fee for the 2025 season is USD $625. This fee is paid on board the yacht at the end of the week as part of the guests' overall onboard charges. Please note that USD $200 of this fee must be paid in CASH. The fees for future seasons will be announced shortly before the start of that specific season once they are confirmed by the Dominican Republic authorities. • Crew gratuities (customary and appreciated) • Travel insurance (required and recommended) PACKAGE DESCRIPTION The Turks & Caicos Aggressor II® offers an exciting itinerary from January - April to the Dominican Republic to snorkel with Humpback Whales at the Silver Bank. All whale charters depart from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Designated as a Marine Sanctuary, the Silver Bank provides a safe wintering haven for the entire North Atlantic Humpback Whale population who gather here from January through April by the thousands to court, mate, calve, and rear their young. Humpback whales find the area ideal for mating and giving birth. The banks offer safety and protection to females and their calves until the young are strong enough to make the trip back to the North Eastern U.S. coast. This sanctuary, also known as the “Sanctuary for the Marine Mammals of the Dominican Republic” is one of three places in the world where humans can swim and snorkel among the whales. The Turks & Caicos Aggressor II moors in an area near the backbone reef of the Silver Bank where an old Greek freighter called the Polyxeni lies aground being rapidly reclaimed by the sea. This extensive reef provides some protection and a comfortable anchorage for the yacht. The tenders (with bimini tops) are launched after breakfast at 8:30 am and in the afternoon and are solely used to bring you closer to the whales.
