Welcome to One of Earth’s Last Great Frontiers

For divers and wildlife lovers, few places evoke as much wonder as the Galapagos Islands. Located 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, these isolated isles are a living museum of evolutionary science and a dream destination for underwater exploration. Aboard the Tiburon Explorer, divers have the rare chance to experience this UNESCO World Heritage site in comfort and style.
The Galapagos are famous not only for Charles Darwin's groundbreaking theories but also for their surreal wildlife encounters: hammerhead sharks in the hundreds, marine iguanas, Galapagos penguins, sea lions, mola mola, and so much more. With its remote location and strict visitor controls, diving here is a privilege few get to experience—and even fewer experience it as comfortably as aboard the Tiburon Explorer.
About the Tiburon Explorer
The Tiburon Explorer is a purpose-built liveaboard designed for the often rugged and remote conditions of the Galapagos. At 125 feet (38 meters), it accommodates up to 16 guests in 9 air-conditioned staterooms, each with private en-suite bathrooms, ocean-view windows, and plenty of storage space.
The vessel features a spacious dive deck, sun deck with hot tub, indoor lounge, and a full dining area where guests enjoy chef-prepared meals daily. The ship’s modern build and stability are well-suited to the oceanic conditions surrounding the islands, making the ride smoother and more enjoyable.
A Dive Itinerary Like No Other
The Galapagos itinerary is a 7-night journey that includes the most iconic and biologically diverse islands in the region. The highlights?
Wolf and Darwin Islands: The crown jewels of the itinerary, known for schools of hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, silky sharks, and the occasional whale shark.
Cabo Douglas: Dive with marine iguanas munching algae beneath the waves—a surreal experience unique to Galapagos.
Punta Vicente Roca: Macro meets mega fauna with mola mola, frogfish, and penguins.
Cousins Rock: Great for eagle rays, seahorses, and sea lions.
In total, the trip includes up to 20 dives, plus land excursions to view giant tortoises and volcanic landscapes.
Wildlife Above and Below the Surface
The Galapagos offer a sensory overload of biodiversity. Beneath the waves, divers can encounter:
Hammerhead sharks
Galapagos sharks
Eagle rays and manta rays
Sea turtles
Mola mola (sunfish)
Marine iguanas
Dolphins
On land and during zodiac tours, guests may spot:
Blue-footed boobies
Flightless cormorants
Galapagos penguins
Giant tortoises
Sea lions and fur seals
Lava lizards and unique finches
It’s one of the few places on Earth where you can literally dive with prehistoric-looking marine reptiles in the morning and walk among ancient tortoises in the afternoon.
Designed for Dive Comfort and Safety
The Tiburon Explorer's dive operations are seamless. The vessel is equipped with a large dive platform, personal gear storage, nitrox capabilities, and two dive pangas for easy drop-offs and pickups.
Each day typically includes three to four dives, with detailed briefings and experienced local guides who are experts in Galapagos marine ecosystems. Currents can be strong, and water temperatures variable, so this trip is best suited for advanced divers with previous drift diving experience.
Life Onboard: More Than Just Diving
Between dives, relax in the hot tub on the sun deck, enjoy fresh Ecuadorian cuisine, or review photos in the comfortable indoor lounge. All meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks are included, with beer and wine available for purchase.
The vessel’s crew of 10 is known for their friendliness and professionalism, and many guests report making lifelong friends with fellow adventurers during the voyage.
